in 2024 Nazy & Bonn have retired from the dreadlock industry. Their legacy has passed onto Sharna from VALHALLA HAIR, former student of the SSDTA & Level 2 Trainer, with the intention of Sharna hosting these course/s and continuing to promote “dreaducation” and empowerment
to others interested in learning this craft on a professional and personal level.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
The FREE Sista System Dreadlock Training Academy™ was the first online, module-based, comprehensive dreadlock training package offered in Australia, and contains 8 units teaching you everything you need to know to start creating and maintaining dreadlocks using our SistaSystem method.
The PAID Pro Lokktician Course is a complete package of 13 units that teaches you everything you need to know in order to create and maintain clients’ dreadlocks using our respected and sought-after SistaSystem method. It also provides you with a Pro Lokktician Tool Kit, learning support, Certification & ongoing promotion that you will need to launch and prosper in your own small business.
UNIT 1- OHS
Before you begin to learn the technique of SistaSystem dreadlocking, it is essential that you understand the seriousness of Occupational Health & Safety in our line of work. In order to avoid injury (and associated loss of income as a result), proper care and diligence must be taken to protect the tools of your trade: your spine, your feet and your hands. Self-care is essential to your success.
UNIT 2- HOLDING THE HOOK
Week 2 shows you why holding the hook is the first step to good practice. If you get this right you will have less damage to your hands and fingers, and be able to control the hook so your client has a pain free experience and you will have hooks that do not break.
UNIT 3- PROCESS
This is arguably the most important video your are going to watch in reference to the lokking process - HOW it’s actually done!
UNIT 4- MAKING A LOKK RING
(PAID COURSE ONLY)
We often hear how professional we are when clients come into the salon for a consult, we like to prepare before the client arrives and we always have a lokk size ring to help our clients understand the SistaSystem process. You will use this for many years to come, so synthetic hair is the best material to use when making a lokk ring.
UNIT 5- BASE MAINTENANCE
For this unit we will need to use a friend or client to perform base maintenance for your assessment. This unit takes you through the actual process, and the time it takes to perform base maintenance depending on hair types and lokk amounts.
UNIT 6- LENGTH MAINTENANCE
Length Maintenance is tightening along the length of the lokk to pull in any lumps and loose hair. In the first six months of the lokk journey you will need length maintenance more frequently as the lengths are expanding.
UNIT 7- SECTIONING
Now that you’ve had time to explore the SistaSystem technique and make your size ring, we would like you to start to think about the scalp and sectioning in the “sacred geometry” or triangle sectioning.
UNIT 8- DECORATE
Decorating dreadlocks with wrapping, beads and accessories is a wonderful service to provide to your clients. Curating customised looks or styles based on their unique, individual tastes is a certain way to help your clients express themselves, and keep them coming back for more!
UNIT 9- ATTACHING EXTENSIONS
We show you how to correctly attach permanent dreadlock extensions to create length and volume to pre-existing lokks.
UNIT 10- LOKK SURGERY
(PAID COURSE ONLY)
You will come across all sorts of issues when maintaining your clients’ lokks, so it’s important to know how to resolve & repair anything that gets thrown your way! Matting, congos, incorrect sectioning, weak spots and more- A comprehensive guide explaining the most common issues and how to fix them.
UNIT 11- FOLLICLE & SCALP HEALTH
(PAID COURSE ONLY)
Learning about the health and integrity of hair will greatly benefit your career. Dandruff, dermatitis and other skin conditions can inhibit peoples’ decision to have or keep their lokks, so we teach you these important basics so you’re confident in recommending products or advice to help your clients keep their lokks healthy.
UNIT 12- CONSULTATIONS
(PAID COURSE ONLY)
The Consultation Appointment is one of the most important processes in your professional career. We teach you best practice when dealing with that first point of contact to ensure the client books with you, and becomes a return customer.
UNIT 13- BUSINESS SET-UP
(PAID COURSE ONLY)
We guide you through the formalities in becoming a sole trader and launching your business in Australia, including how to register your business, apply for an ABN, book & account keeping, website building and social media marketing.
You will have access to either online course for 13 weeks, and Group Membership for as long as you need!
